Narooma NPWS Office Building

Narooma NPWS Office Building

The new staff and community facility accommodates 30 staff from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, the Marine Park Authority NSW and NSW Maritime. Located on the NSW south coast at Narooma, the facility will receive up to 8000 visitors per year seeking information on the National and Marine Parks in the region.

The new facility exemplifies the commitment of DECC to sustainable environmental outcomes. The design brings together a suite of readily available and affordable environmental initiatives in an innovative and creative way.

The facility will incorporate passive and environmental technologies, including:

-No air-conditioning of work areas.
Building Management System (BMS) to optimise comfort.

-Sub-floor labyrinth for tempering incoming air.

-High level windows, controlled by actuators operated by the BMS.

-Extensive fenestration to the north and south facades, facilitating cross ventilation and natural lighting.

-Horizontal and vertical external sun shading to avoid solar heat gain.

-Rainwater tanks and the use of grey water for toilet flushing and irrigation purposes.
